Dental Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are commonly used dental prostheses that work in place of an actual tooth. At Dogwood Dental, we offer both of these restorative treatments.

What Are Dental Crowns?

The crown of your tooth is the upper part that we can see above the gumline. Sometimes the crowns of our teeth get cracked, damaged, or experience decay. A dental crown can be placed over the tooth to protect and preserve it.

Dental crowns are a popular restorative treatment, as they restore full function and protection to previously damaged teeth. They are also known as caps because they fit over the damaged tooth’s surface. We use porcelain crowns at Dogwood Dental. These crowns create a seamless, natural look that will improve your smile.

No one will be able to tell you have a crown over your tooth.

What Are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is the name given to multiple dental crowns placed in a row. A bridge is used to replace multiple missing teeth that have left a sizable gap in your mouth.

These bridges are placed between two teeth, implants, or cosmetic crowns to close the gaps between missing teeth. In order to do this, crowns will be placed on either end of the gap to secure the bridge in place.

Dental bridges are another great restorative treatment for patients. If you have experienced tooth loss due to gum disease, injury, or tooth decay, bridges may be a great solution for you. They can restore your mouth and give it the ability to function normally.

Bridges can be made from a variety of materials including: alloys, gold, porcelain, or a combination of these materials.
